Take the Tenmile to Copper, play more, or just relax
The paved 9.5 mile Blue River Bikeway that takes riders westbound to Copper Mountain resort from centrally-located Frisco is called the Tenmile Canyon Bikeway. Snaking between the towering peaks and colossal walls of the Ten Mile Range and Ten Mile Creek, it follows the historic Denver-South Park Pacific narrow gauge railroad, gaining about 600 feet in the first 6 miles.
At 14 miles, the round trip Frisco to Copper ride takes about 2 hours. Bicyclists can continue in play mode when stopping at the ski resort with a Copper "Summer Day" Activity pass. Fun modes of transport from go-karts to the Diggler off-road scooter are available with the pass. A more mellow approach could include a round of mini-golf or the simple world-class views from 11,250 ft. at the top of the American Eagle chairlift, also home to the Solitude barbecue.
Shops and restaurants in the East and Center Villages at the resort's base are open in summer. Copper Mountain can also be explored from a paddleboat on West Lake.
Whether on fat tires or thin, single-track, paved trail or anything in-between, pedaling about in the towns and resorts of Summit County is hard to beat.
